COLLABORATION

FAIR HARVEST - WARDANDI BOODJA - MARGARET RIVER

Land Art is Connection. An invitation to be in the moment, connect with the Land you are on and allow yourself to be led into a world of texture and colour. Being involved in the creation of Land Art is healing in itself, using our hands to collect and sort, as our ancestors did, our minds begin to slow and our awareness centres in to the Land.

While creating our artworks, we bring beauty into the world and find a deep sense of connection. There is no right or wrong in this process, the land and its materials will hold you. You are collaborating with the Land. Listening, holding, honouring. Land loves to be acknowledged.

All our ancestors around the planet would gather what natural materials were around them and create symbols and moments of reconnection with our living planet.

Our local Wardandi Elders and Custodians, Matriarch Nan Viv - Vivian Brockman Webb and Mitchella Hutchins, will share some of their ancestral wisdom and spirituality in connection to Country and their deep understanding of our role as custodians of this Earth. Their traditional 'Land Art', known as Bora, is created using the incredibly diverse coloured sands found here in the South West.

We will begin our collaborative artwork with them, honouring the Wardandi Boodja, Elders past, present and emerging and their unbroken connection of caring for boodja and people for over 60,000 years.

This weekend is about connection with your inner quiet, your ancestral self and Nature. A chance to be free from daily life and immerse yourself in the wonder, peace and deep embrace of this precious earth. Land Art is a skill that you can learn and share with others.

Weekend Schedule

Friday Night
Under the dark moon, we are very fortunate to have Nan Viv and Mitch initiate our retreat with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony. They will also join us to commence our communal artwork.

Saturday

Saturday morning - Loving Kindness Meditation
After breakfast, we will walk, collect and connect. You will have a chance to make a personal creation in your own chosen space, as well as continue to add to our collaborative artwork. There will be an option to use clay and natural materials at a table and chair. These creations can be added into either artwork. This is good for those who would rather not sit on the ground for long periods of time.

Elaine Clocherty - Land Artist & Retreat Facilitator

I have been a site-specific artist for over 25 years, exhibiting locally, nationally and internationally. Very passionate about sharing this process, I am blessed to have worked with thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds in the creation of Land Art. We live in a world that is more disconnected than any previous generation. Land Art helps us reconnect and remember that we are part of a planet teeming with Life that needs our respect and care.

Nature is my refuge, my happy place. I love to share, collaborate and sit on Country, creating symbols of Connection with all the incredible textures and colours found in Nature.

Each morning there will be an option to do Loving Kindness Meditation, warming our hearts whilst we remember we are a child in the glorious Universe of Life, with much to share.  You can practice Loving Kindness both in sitting and lying positions. This Buddhist meditation has been handed down from person to person for 2500 years. I have been practicing Buddhism and Dzogchen for 24 and 16 years respectively, with wonderful teachers from both lineages.

On Saturday night, there is also an option to participate in Rebirthing Breathwork Mastery RBM with the wonderful Ailsa Blackwood. This beautiful intention-based practice uses slow, non-directed, conscious breath to integrate outdated thought patterns stored in the body. It is a conscious move towards self freedom, authenticity and how we would prefer our lives, and world, to be. Ailsa will also be supporting across the whole weekend. Ailsa is a free schooling mum of 3, Doctor (PhD) of Landscape Architecture, Writer and RBM Breathworker. She is a deeply creative soul and someone who genuinely cares about people.
